My problem with those who oppose evolution
Many people today, of course, still refuse to accept evolution. They either claim that there's no evidence, or there is evidence but it is faulty, or that creationism is superior, among others.
I've noticed something with these people. They oppose evolution not because they honestly think the evidence is bad, they oppose it because it is a theory that doesn't fit well with their beliefs. Granted, there are many theists who accept evolution, but many religious people still claim authority to challenge evolution. They try to disprove it not because it is an honest academic pursuit, but because evolution casts doubt on their beliefs. These people practice their religious beliefs without question--the submit their full will to their religion and god. They dedicate an abundance of skepticism for evolution, but they don't do the same to their beliefs. How cute. |
