Post Make Hovind pay for your visits to his web-site...

Whilst doing a bit of googling, I noticed that www.drdino.com came up as a "sponsored link" advertisement. Google.com makes money from advertisers by charging them "per click" when potential customers click on "sponsored-link" ads.

Anyway, if you access www.drdino.com through this google-sponsored link, Dr. Hovind will kindly pay Google.com every time you visit his web-site. Of course, I would imagine that there are safeguards in place to keep merry pranksters from running up much of a bill, but even if we can ding "drdino" for 25 cents here and there, we'll be doing our part to promote good science education...

Someone should write a bot that keeps accessing that link.

I'd imagine Google would track the IP's or hostnames that "clicked-through" to prevent repeat billing from the same IP. I don't know that they do this, but I certainly wouldn't pay for their service if they didn't...

Edit: so I gave it a click from work, and I'll give it one from home.

I just did a little experiment -- using two separate browsers (konqueror and mozilla), I visited google.com until I obtained "click-through" advertising links for the same web-site. I compared the URL's for the two links and, as expected, they were quite different. So most likely, the links are "one-shots"; repeated use the link I posted probably won't generate any additional charges to Hovind. But if you are doing a web-search and you see Hovind's web-site pop up as a "sponsored link", definitely give it a click!

I would not do that to Dr(?)Dino. He has far too much amusment value to contribute. Here's the best link on him I've found:

http://www.geocities.com/kenthovind/

Enjoy!

O' course, the IRS and the state of FL have some nice, meaty bones to pick with him, so he might soon be, let us say: "a bit subdued." in the near future. Alas........

Ah well, there's always Duane Gish amd Morris to kick around.
