Post Clarification, please

Do Creationists deny that they regard Evolution to be a product of Satanic inspiration; Darwin as a tool of Satan and as such, now burning in the fires of hell?
I’m just interested.

most that i've met, yes. they regard satan as the 'great deceiver', and evolution is his greatest deception because it allows people to think that the world could have come to be the way it is today without a conscious creator behind the scenes. so, i guess that would make darwin his stool pigeon in their point of view.

Thanks, cloudyphiz.
Perhaps I’m taking an inordinately twisted view of this, but it does seem extraordinarily significant to me because it places our discussions here in a completely different context from that which I had previously placed them.
The Rationalists think they’re promoting the merits of a scientific proposition but the Creationists, I now realise, see themselves as doing battle against Satanic wickedness. I suppose they’re doing it in the hope that they might save a soul or two.

Maybe it’s different in the States, but my (British) creationist correspondent who first got me into all this has never once mentioned Satan. The discussion has been purely on, in his words, “seeing more evidence for creation than evolution”. So I’d never really taken the evil conspiracy idea seriously. I’ll have to ask him!

Stephen, have you encountered many UK creationists? I've come across a handful; I wonder whether there's many in Leeds (and whether they're more of the Satanist Plot variety)?

Cheers, Oolon

Hello Oolon Colluphid. I think you’ll find that many of the Charismatic-school evangelists in the UK have fundamentalist / Creationist beliefs. My parents (deceased) where Charismatics and they had contacts in Leeds so there'll be a bunch of them here.
My mother accepted the Bible as being literally true. When wild-life programmes came on - which my parents liked - she’d take a sharp intake of breath at every mention of evolution, and I think she - I’m less sure about my father - did believe that Darwin was inspired by Satan. Odd thing is, I never disputed here beliefs, and just sighed inwardly when she made a remark like: “God made the flowers for us to enjoy,” and - on seeing a rainbow - “When I see a rainbow I know God is keeping His promise not to cause a second Flood.”
It seemed just pointless getting into a discussion with her; and it was. As pointless, I fear, as getting into discussions with the Creationists who come here.
I'd be interested to know what your Creationist pal says about Darwin. None of the Creationists visiting this forum has so far disputed my suggestion.
best wishes
S.T-B
