Satan and the Bible
I was curious, how would a Christian argue against the view that Satan in fact wrote the bible? How could you construct a convincing argument that Satan didn’t write the bible? If you are a Christian, how could you be reasonably sure that Satan didn't write the bible and isn't the one "communicating" with you?
(Lets try and keep this one serious ) |

I think Miscellaneous Religious Discussions would be a more appropriate forum for this topic.

I posted it here because of the epistemolgical issues that are relevant to the discussion. Besides, sending it to one of the misc. discussions pretty much banishes it to not getting any serious responses...But, send it wherever ...

by their own reasoning, the couldnt make a reasonable argument against satan writing the bible. but you know christians... where there is a questioin there is a zealot bitching about how they are right even though they have no proof...
Though dinosaur fossils, bones proving human evolution, and even religious leaders agreeing with scientific evidence havent stopped them from thinking that the scientific (rational) community is still wrong. you can ask them the question, but you will never be satisfied with the answer because if they said that it was possible, the foundation for their whole religion would crumble... <img src="graemlins/notworthy.gif" border="0" alt="[Not Worthy]" /> |

Do you really think it helps to study Shakespeare-the-man to understand what he wrote? If this is true the bible should in fact not be read. Amos |

I would say that the Prince Of Darkness, Father of Lies, etc etc, writing the Bible would be pretty damn important, wouldn't you?

Shakespeare's works and the Bible are very different and have very different aims. I don't read Shakespear for Truth. I read it because it's entertaining and well written. I don't make any life decisions based on Hamlet.
The only reason to believe that the Bible wasn't written by Satan is through faith. -Mike |

I'll give you an example. Look at the recent tape of Bin Laden where he claims prior knowledge of the WTC attacks. If that tape were actually made not by Bin Laden, but by the United States Government, would you still accept it as true. If you answer yes, that merely demonstrates willful ignorance on your part. Alternatively, can any theist provide any evidence that the Bible, while perhaps authored by God, is simply intention deception on his part, and is actually very far removed from the true condition of things. If God were actually evil and Satan was simply a good guy sticking up for humanity and the Bible were just anti-Satan propaganda, would there be any way to tell the difference? Peace out. |
