And some people wonder why I am so anti-theism. Rapture Ready turned me into the monster that I am today! Luckily I have a professional and personal life to counterbalance the internet insanity, because if I didn't... ROAR!!
I'm a glutton for punishment then. Until recently (time and money constrainsts) I used to post there, too.

I met up with some like minded people and we posted there.

That is quite impossible right now as I am only seventeen, without a driver's license. Besides, I'm grounded until I go to college, and the only reason my parents stopped there was because they wouldn't be able to enforce such a punishment anyways.

Can't sneak out: my house has an alarm.
Reason for being grounded: I let a guy my parents didn't know in my room.

Where do you live?
I live in Bloomfield Hills. The school I go to is the International Academy (considered the best highschool in the US), where critical thinking is a required class, and because of the international students, completely, utterly, secular. It's a happy place where freethinkers are the norm and fundies don't exist.

Exactly. Or - just in the right place with the right people.
Very lucky. You can't imagine how much I appreciate being raised in this environment. When I came out to my Christian friends, most of their their reactions was, "That's nice," and then we moved on. I lost a couple friends though, but they weren't worth it anyways. I made up for it lots.

I'll be back shortly with a collective response. I'm under a ton of work right now.

Default I make a difference...

I try to make a difference

I go to a catholic school (don't ask) and when people found out I was an atheist (a.k.a. devil worshipper ) they all came up to me asking why I don't believe in God. I said there isn't any convincing proof of God's existence. I asked them to prove that the God they believe in exists. They all respond, well, YOU CAN'T DISPROVE GOD. I said yes, that is true. They seemed to feel quite justified that because I couldn't disprove God they were right. I then asked them if they could disprove leprechauns, and they said, "well, leprechauns aren't the same as God!!!" :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Why did god make people stupid???

I am with DMB, I am a humanist first and foremost and most of my "get out and do somethings" are not necessarily secular in nature. I am active with BBBS, Organ Donation Awareness (I donated a kidney in Spetember to a friend), the local hospice, and I used to be very active in pro choice (clinic escort during a good sized pro life rally)...that scared me away from demonstrating for good.

I am open about my atheism to everyone except my clients...our largest client company is a fundie organization and religion/business shouldn't mix. I do not pretend to be a Christian or anything, I simply do not participate when it is mentioned or practiced in my presence.

My Dad and husband are agnostic, my Mom and brother are pantheist or something, my best friend (here) is a lapsed Catholic and my best friend from childhood is a fundie...we have lengthy debates over bottles of wine

I don't think we need to evangelize our non-belief...thats too like a religion for me. Do what you can for your fellow humans and let others come ask you why you are so cool

May I ask, about "not evangelizing," if this includes refraining from simply meeting and socializing with other atheists? I just want to get to know more people like me. Is that bad? Once upon a time, someone told me that my attendance at the Philadelphia Atheists Meet Up was tantamount to starting an atheist religion. Sheesh, all we do is drink a few beers and have some snacks. (Is that Communion?) *winks*

I was already a political activist. Is this "non-evangelism" concept indicative of an attitude in which it is okay for me to express an opinion to legislators on, say, anything; but not on church-state separation issues?

I'm not "out" as an atheist at work. It's not an appropriate forum for non-work-related topics, and I'd lose my job. I live in a small suburban town, which means that I have to really reach out to find others like me, but I must remain closeted in my own community.

I don't consider my attempts to share information about atheism and godless communities to be "evangelism." I really hope no one else does!

You can literally HEAR my boring opinions by tuning in to the Atheist Network Radio in 2 weeks to "The Reverend is IN!" It's true, I'll be a guest LIVE on Reverend Bookburn's "Foreplay for the Masturbation Show" Sunday, April 6 from 9-11pm EST on Atheist Network Radio. The server url is @ http://207.44.137.163:8000/listen.pls
And the show will be rebroadcast forever and ever amen, I'm sure, on AN Radio.

I am an active member of Amnesty International. Secular organisation. Otherwise nothing much in the way of freethought and atheistic organisations where I live. Probably because we are not as goddamned as the US.

Good enough for ya ?

I choose "C."

I'm usually repairing the bridges burned by radicalized militant atheists. Xtians polarized by fascistic anti-god rhetoric are usually the hardest to reach.

Thanks.

Pshaw, you think it's hard selling atheism to Christians? Try selling it to atheists!

"Like herding cats" indeed...
