Thumbs up The new Lexus is more powerful than God

Has anyone else seen the new Lexus commercial yet?

It`s got the Lexus driving down an empty road that looks like it might be somewhere in Kansas. Suddenly Gods bearded head appears in the sky and starts blowing wind at the car trying to stop it.
God tries blowing dust from the fields as well as giant hay bails into the road, but the car keeps right on going as apocalyptic music plays.

God then comes in closer and blows some telephones poles down, but the car still just keeps on going.
The car then goes over a narrow bridge and the big angry God head comes right down to street level in front of the car blocking it`s path, but the car blasts right through God turning his head into fog that vanishes into the air.

He he. That would be the iron wheels, I'm guessing.

Lexus do seem to have a predeliction for "fire and brimstone" analogies in their commercials. I wonder if that "I won't do business with atheists" car dealer would sully his lot with a used Lexus?

How do you know that was God?

I suspect it was Satan trying to disguise himself with a beard

(The Bible says he does sometimes appear as an 'angel of light' (2 Cor 11), after all... )

It doesn`t sound like Satans style.
Satan is content with just giving you some gross sores while God is the guy into the heavy stuff like killing all your livestock, killing your family and friends, running your new Lexus off the road and causing a horrible accident etc.....

I don`t think we`ll need to call Scotland Yard for help with this one.

Nahhh, with all due respect I disagree. Read the beginning of Job again...Satan was the one who actually inflicted Job. God didn't actually do anything except give permission for him to do it (at that point).

We might, to understand why God said it was ok for Satan to do that to Job...

Theories abound!

Helen-
You said: Satan was the one who actually inflicted Job. God didn't actually do anything except give permission for him to do it (at that point).

.but Chapter 42:11 says: "...and they consoled him and comforted him for the the evil that the Lord had brought on him."

That means God gave Satan permission to do it!

Like I said

It's short-hand for "God allowed satan to do evil things to Job".

Talking

I don`t know why I thought it was God who killed Jobs family and Satan who gave him the sores. It`s been a long time since I`ve read that little fable.
But never the less it was all done at Gods request. God said do whatever you want to Job,but DON`T actually hurt Job himself *yet*.
The second time God and Satan get together God does give Satan the permission to physically hurt Job.

These bad things might have been carried out by Satan, but it was God who gave the orders to do it. Much like Nazi soldiers and Hitler or a Mafia boss and his thugs.

Why are we even having this silly discussion Helen? Why don`t you email Lexus and ask them if the character who looks like God in the commercial is actually Satan taking the form of God to trick people into thinking that God hates the new Lexus.
Please post the response from Lexus when they write back.

I made my contribution because Christians seem eager to maintain a distance between God and "evil". They are usually quick to blame satan for Job's difficulties since it's an easier concept to grasp. Also, my fundy sister recently said that God doesn't "send" people to hell; hell was created for satan, and some of us follow him there. This explanation is easier to swallow than the biblical portrayals of God himself casting people into hell.

Yes- this is definitely an aside.....sorry!

I hate to burst your bubble, Anunnaki, but it sounds more like they were trying to portray one of the Greek mythological winds, who are often depicted as giant white bearded men.
