True enough, I think. We all love a parade and the Catholics always put on a great show (when the officials're not being busted for pedophilia).

We also love mystery and dark secrets (what goes on in those cloisters and monistaries, anyway?). Put all this together and you have the perfect recipe for enticing those who would be faithful. And some that are not so faithful.

It also creates an 'enemy' for other sects to rail against, thus assuring the success of all.

Umberto Eco's "Name of a Rose" is an excellent read.

No, {that is, "Yes, and..."}: Consider Catholicism as an alternative to being medically treated {==the practise of Medicine w/o a license}.. Dunno why I can't seem to bolt my brains down to verbalize what I'm trying to lay-out here? Brought it here, probably, in hope that someone of us can bail me out, verbally... :Idea that "the Cheuch"'s fantastic unsubstantiated & unsubstantiable eh, LIES may satisfy some otherwise-unsatisfied human need[s];and that this {insane, irrational} "therapy" accounts for"the Cheuch"'s success over two millennia. Somewhere-back-in-here I have a recollection that S. Freud wrote a book explaining all-this. {I can look it up...} Paragraph 2. Anyone want to comment on the reasons why "Catholicism" [that human/manmade fiction} is *allowed* to get away with smearing that insanity around in the public agora? How come the Psychiatric Police don't shoot it down? instead of letting all those crazies walk around loose? {Merely"because the practise of {my} religion is protected by Law"? or because all governing agencies understand that "religion" makes the polloi more easily-governable? And turned into good little consumers. By definition, "believers" [in whatever} are NOT skeptics; hence in the main they are easily made *subjects*. = "Fear God/Honor the Queen..." Please give some discussion about this, Members-here. Abe
