The argument from, "Well its obvious to my child"
Umpf. If there is one thing I can't stand, its Christian Radio prophets saying how their child can get it.
I've heard on multiple occasions. Once time its an argument against evolution and the pastor says that his kids asks him, "So people really think we come from rocks?" Then there is the time of a pastor relating to a movie with Michael Caine in it and the daughter asking how the OB could perform births and abortions. Well who else would do an abortion? A podiatrist? Then you have the commericial on how a 4 yr old daughter believed her father was with god after being killed by "muslim" radicals. The commericial spouted how the child still had such a strong faith after such a horrible event. So somehow we "unbelievers" have to believe because the kids could. But does this mean anything? If children are being conditioned to believe in evolution and if such conditioning works, as argued by Christians, isn't the same thing happening with religion? Children are being indoctrinated, but this is different somehow, to Christians. Take the evolution point from the child. I'm sure the child would find it hard to believe that time wasn't constant too. Or that his body was composed of tiny atoms and his body was 99.999999% free space. You don't hear the pastor saying, and "my kid said, 'and people actually believe we are 99.99999% free space?'." Pastors will do anything to ridicule our beliefs. |

i am so sick of that "faith of a child" crap--and people exploiting their children's indoctrination.
hell, when i was a kid, i believed i had my own personal pack of velociraptors. they just remained very, very well hidden at all times. *nikki |

i like the kids that say "you mean they really believe mary didn't get it on". of course, those are also the kids you can share dirty jokes with, so i could be biased. |

When I was five years old, I believed in Santa Claus. Should I regress mentally to childhood so I can believe in imaginary beings again?

A lot of Fundamentalists admire childish simplicity. It is what they seek for themselves, and what they would impose on society.
They also believe in childish innocence. Some children may indeed be innocent, but I never met one. Some children may indeed be simple, but I never met one of those either. “Childish” simplicity is an adult construct, representing unquestioning obedience and unthinking acceptance of mythology. Both are essential for Fundamentalism. |

Well...it is obvious to children:
"But Daddy...who made God?" "Who did Cain and Abel marry?" "Where did Noah put the dinosaurs?" etc. d |
