Need some help with the Book of Daniel
A family friend are having a long, slow debate over his rather conservative views of Christianity. He has referred me to a tome that maintains that the Book of Daniel is a truly prophetic book. The book is "The Coming Prince" by Sir Robert Anderson.
It was written in the late 19th Century and I didn't get very far before I detected several problems with Anderson's arguments. Namely circular reasoning and rejection of modern (as of the late 19th Cent CE) linguistic criticism. I am convinced that the book must have been adequately refuted in the more than a century since it was first published. The fact that 100 years of scholarly research has occurred since then makes me certain of that. Can anyone point me in the direction of such a refutation? Details: The Coming Prince, by Sir Robert Anderson Reprinted 1957 by Kregel Publications, Grand Rapids, Mich. ISBN 0-8254-2115-2 Lib. of Congress Cat. Card: 63-11464 |

I don't know of any specific refutation of that book. I hadn't heard of it, but a quick Google search shows that it's pretty popular with websites like RaptureReady. I would suggest Daniel by John Collins for a pretty good scholarly dissection of Daniel.

Take a look at The prophecies of Daniel. It is a deconstruction of Daniel which shows that it is historical, rather than prophetic.
