My parents are the same way as you guys. One non believer, one Jew who isnt really sure.

Don't deny your kid the opportunity to learn the Jewish culture. You want to know why I don't believe? Because I went to Hebrew school and actually listened. I saw through the lies.

I even had my Barmitzvah when I didn't believe at all. Why? Presents? Party? F*** no. I was embarrased out of my mind. All my friends asked, WTf is this stupid crap your weird religion has? I had a Bar Mitzvah just because it would upset my family and they wouldn't understand why I would do such a selfish lazy thing, when really it was my choice. My dad even said a few years before I even started preparing for it, "you dont have to do it if you dont want to"

Having a bar mitzvah taught me: some s*** you have to do. Swallow your pride. Suck it up and do it. It wasnt the hard work that made me a "man", neither did having the ceremony. Religion actually helped me in that sense.

What I am saying is, let your child make up her own mind. If she wants to be a rabbi when she grows up, oh well. Religion isn't something you should keep away from your child, cause when she heres about it she will ask, "why didnt I learn about this daddy?" And chances are, if you take her to synagogue or church or sunday/hebrew school, she will "believe". If she preaches to you give her your 2 cents and make her think twice. Give a rational argument, because "God did this and that" is much easier to understand then the other way.

Don't force religion on her, or even expose it to her to often, just let her get a taste of it and figure it out on her own.

It would be tough to raise a kid that actually thought for themselves. Good luck.
