Prof. G. A. Wells
I have read nearly everything he has written. I have read everything he has written about Christian origins including some pamphlets that are not available outside the UK.
I have not read his first book on Christian origins: "Jesus of the early Christians". I know that he has moved far beyond the theories he presented therein, but I still want to read it. I want to see the evolution of his theories, not only that, he wasn't totally off the mark then, as he refers to things he said and ideas he forwarded in that volume (for instance, he refers to his arguments concerning Papias in that work in the Jesus Legend). Does anyone have this book? I would be happy, ecstatic in fact, to even have someone scan this book for me. It has been out of print for quite some time. I wrote to the publisher (Prometheus) concerning this book and got no response. Anyone have an old copy they want to sell? |

I have 3 books by Wells. I thought that I had the one you were looking for but I can't find it. I am unhappy about Prometheus ignoring your inquiry. If I can find the book I will not sell it to you but I will lend it to you. I will call prometheus tomorrow. The Admiral |

Someone should talk to Wells and the publisher about releasing this book to the public domain or permitting an online transcription. Nobody is making any money off this one anymore; and since Wells published several more recent books on the subject, it doesn't seem likely that the publisher would want to reprint it. Getting Wells to coordinate this with the publisher while he is still alive would obviously help.

No luck with prometheus. Robb Marks is looking for the book for me but apparently it is very hard to find. The Admiral |

Being as you're in Washington, you can get the book from the Washington State University Library in Pullman, WA. If you are not near Pullman you can probably get it on an interlibrary loan.
The catalog information is <a href="http://griffin.wsu.edu/search/t?SEARCH=Jesus+of+the+early+christians" target="_blank">here</a> |
