One teacher objected to the presentation because it was occurring at a public institution, according to some at the assembly. The teacher did not return phone calls seeking comment yesterday.

Is it just me, or does this sound distinctly different from the actions of Mr. X reported by the student in the OP? If he really stormed the platform as reported by the student, it seems like the newspaper would have phrased it differently than merely "objected to".

You may be right.

Although, it may be that the Dispatch just doesn't want to stir up local sensibilities.

The article does not disclose the teacher's name either.

It seems that our supposed freedom of religion is upheld now only to protect those who want to be free from religion. Those with religious beliefs are constantly reminded to keep quiet so as not to offend the non-religious.

Well, I am offended that I have to practically keep my religion a secret. I can not and will not separate my beliefs from the rest of my life.

:boohoo: :boohoo:

Yeah. It's not like our society is suffused with religious imagery or anything. It's just us evil atheists oppressing the dirty religious people. Cuz we have such a huge powerbase to do so, y'know. :banghead:

MY biggest question about this (just to put the final nail in the coffin) is whether or not school funds were used to bring the FCA to the school. ANY school funds at all. If yes, than it is flagrantly unconstitutional. If no, then the school at least has a tiny bit to stand on, but I doubt they would win.

***ATTENTION***

The person I quoted in my initial post is at risk of getting in some trouble for mentioning the teachers name and he actually found out about this thread. He has asked me to edit out the teachers name, but I am unable to edit my post at this point. I would like to ask a moderator or administrator to edit the name out of every post in which it appears (I have also emailed webmaster@iidb.org ) Also, please do not mention his name in any new posts... Thank you.

I don't know about any funding specifically for the assembly, but janitors who set up and cleaned up the facility had to be paid, and teachers were still paid their normal salaries, as though it were a normal work day.

I have edited out the teacher's name per your request, so your Christian friend can't blame you when he gets in trouble.

I would like to hear the teacher's side of the story.

Thanks a lot Toto.

Lol, he was actually very apologetic about it.

Does "he" refer to your friend or the teacher?

How about tracking him down, somehow, nudge nudge , and inviting him here to tell his story?
