Red face Don't let loved ones fall victim to cults

As I was flipping through my Sunday paper this morning, I perused the fluffy USA Weekend section, just to see if there was anything interesting. I came across an article by Loveline's own Dr. Drew Pinsky. Today, he wrote about cults; the title: Don't let loved ones fall victim to cults. The full text can be found right here.

He compares al-Qaeda to a cult, going through the major characteristics of a cult:
 • having a charismatic, all-powerful leader who believes that they have a direct line to god
 • they psychologically, if not physically, isolate followers from the rest of society
 • and, use mind control to make members believe the world is divided between absolute good (their group) and absolute evil (everyone else)

Then he questions, "Sound familiar?" Sure does, Dr. Drew! Sounds a lot like Xianity, or at least Catholicism. Drew says, "We should be on guard, because it can happen to all kinds of people in all kinds of families, and the results can be truly disastrous."

Yes people, be on guard, friends or family could get sucked into being Xians! They'll move quickly to psychologically distance themselves from you and any other open-minded type of person.
