Why don't fundie jerks simply commit suicide?
I wonder why fundie jerks simply don't commit suicide; since they believe that they'd be much happier as a result, one would expect them to do so. And the rest of us would be a LOT better off.
But I'm sure that they'd moan and groan about how suicide is gate-crashing or something like that. |

Well, suicide is a sin according to the catholics, so if they committed suicide they'd go to hell (or at least purgatory).
I don't know about the protestants, though. |

I've read claims that the reason the Church made suicide a sin was because they had converts doing just that -- committing suicide in search of a better "life", that is.

All fundies, of any denomination, will suddenly tell you that suicide is definitely a sin when confronted with this logic.
Similarly, when faced with a disease like cancer, most fundies will try all they can to try and prevent or hold off death for as long as possible. Forces of nature be damned. It comes down to the fact that the human preservation instinct in (nearly) all of us is also present in fundies. |

If a Christian said "Why don't atheists commit suicide? There is no point to their life, after all, since they don't believe in God." would you see that as a well thought-out, meaningful, analysis of the implications of the atheist worldview? Would you be a little offended? Helen |
