I know this is going to sound stupid, but someone told me masturbating once a day can cause serious health problems becaue the body keeps trying to produce more sperm and it throws the body out of its natural balance. This isn't true is it? Because if it is I'm screwed

(I am curious as to what they meant by "natural balance", anyway. It's one of those hippie-dippy substance-free catchphrases, like "cleanse the body of toxins." Silly.) |

Then there is the opposite view, years ago I was looking through a book on Tantric sexual practices,I can't remember it clearly,
in one exercise the practitioner is allowed unlimited sexual activity but no ejaculation! I think their idea was that it dissipates energy,so they keep it in and supposedly channel it into other areas.I think the practice has a long history in India. I wonder if this practice would cause health problems? |

Its called Maithuna. Its based on superstition. The idea is that you build up the sacred seed to either awaken the kundalini in the spine or open the sahashara chakra in the head or some other claptrap. While I wholeheartedly endorse with the idea of a religion based on sexual pleasure, maithuna is just delibate sexual frustration with no benefits. It probably won't damage you, but it may well lead to a painful bout of vasocongestion. Patrick |
