Daggah,

Quote:
You clearly don't respect US and our wishes(your "In Christ" closing can ONLY be intended as a sign of disrespect, and I sincerely doubt you'd remove it if asked) so why should we respect yours?
Baloney. I treat others with respect until they cease to treat me with respect, in which case I might resort to "mirroring". Hey, if my "In Christ" signature offends you, don't read it - it's no more intended as a personal offense than signing off, "In Contemplation".

Now, there are LOTS of people here who post things I and other Christians find very offensive, and even more things that we would find at least slightly offensive - based on your reasoning, since they have essentially "posted first" their offensive remarks, they obviously have shown disrespect to me and other Christians and thus, by your reasoning, I and other Christians have every right and reason to "disrespect" them (you).

If an atheist chooses to sign off with something like, "The Universe is not designed", or "There is no God", or "Darwin was right", no Christian would take that as a sign of "disrespect" of Christians, merely as a sign of the person's strongly held beliefs. Only the immature and undiscerning would take it personally, or as a sign of "disrespect". Likewise in the case of my "In Christ" signature.

Personally I don't give a flying .... as to what you prefer to be called.
You've never given me the impression of having the nobility of character to care a bit about the wishes of those you consider your intellectual inferiors. You've also never given me the impression of having the discernment to distinguish between your intellectual inferiors, peers, or superiors.

So, Dougie, you best grow a thicker skin.
Your debating skills appear to have plateaued at around the 3rd grade level. Perhaps that's as much as one should expect from someone such as yourself.

Is that why you basically told Rev. Joshua that he wasn't a True Christian (TM) before he even said a word to you?

Your hypocrisy is showing.

Ummm, what?

OK, sure it's a powerful argument. Everyone should look at your posts, and the accuracy of the prior comment is then obvious.

Since you seem to have no qualms about mangling other people's names, you have no grounds to complain when others address you as they please, InChristDougie.

Wait a minute...what are we doing? InChristDougie has managed to successfully run interference for the new loons on ARN, and sidetrack the discussion. I think the argument that he's a sycophant has been adequately demonstrated, let's get back on track.

Fundamentally, Douglas, nobody respects people who insist on being called a certain respectful way. You earn titles, Doug, you don't demand them. You want to be called "Douglas," stop insisting on it. Ignore it and people will revert to more respectful versions of your name. Stop signing yourself "in christ" which is simply asking for abuse. You could switch to the humble "peace" or stylish "ciao" or something similar, if you felt motivated. Or do without a sign-off, as so many of us do, and avoid bandwidth waste.

it's probably because mentally, I don't classify Christ as a title (In all honestly, I only learnt it was a title when I started coming onto these boards... before that, I just thought it was part of his name. the mental adjustment hasn't quite happened, and probably never will) But I kinda can't see the problem with Douglas's signature...

Could someone tell me what I'm missing? (I'm blonde )

Now, what was it about what I posted that stirred you to classify me as a "sycophantic simpleton", and to suggest that I was catering to Chris Langan and his views? Or was that just one of your unthinking, knee-jerk responses?

Dougie,
If you were not so overwhelmingly stupid, you would have been able to see that I did not claim that you were Jack Wyatt.

Go back to heaping adoration on another self-absorbed anti-this and that.

Say - aren't you supposed to be preparing for the end times or something, you mental midget?

painless: Dougie,

Painglass, if you were not so overwhelmingly full of yourself, you would have been able to see that I was mocking your own pathetic use of English, and that I did not think that you claimed that I was Jack Wyatt.

Your discernment of my posts to Chris Langan exhibit the same clarity and rationality you show in your discernment of Creation and the Bible - none.

Yes, and that's what I'm doing, here - trying to prepare others for the coming judgment, you mental genius, you.

Douglas
