Default Did Jesus raise the dead?

So I was just at Target and I ran across some little kid Easter book called The Story of Easter, so I read through it and it said something about how Jesus healed the sick, and then on the same page it said he was also able to heal the dead and bring them back to life. I don't recall hearing this before. Is this in the Bible? Where? If not, then why is this book lying to children and trying to make Jesus out as something he wasn't?

Hi oriecat
yes this is in the bible. His name was lazarus, he brought him back from the dead. Its in the gospel of John

John 12:1
Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.
(Whole Chapter: John 12 In context: John 12:1-2)

John 12:9
Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
(Whole Chapter: John 12 In context: John 12:8-10)

John 12:17
Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word.
(Whole Chapter: John 12 In context: John 12:16-18)

John 12:39 (KJV) Jesus said "take away the stone" , Martha the sister of him who was dead said to him "Lord by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days ...

44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with grave clothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth.....

Lazarus was not the only one raised from the dead. There was also the son of the widow in the city of Nain and the daughter of Jairus.

Not to mention all the people who rose from the dead when he died and entered the city after his resurrection.

In addition, one day he will raise all the dead based on his resurrection power.

I wish you could understand how truly sickening that attitude is. As you yourself posted elsewhere, billions will disappear and then the huge vast majority of people who have ever lived on this planet will go to burn in hell or the lake of fire or whatever shit it is, and you find JOY in that. "Yay!! Jesus is coming, Jesus is coming! Burn, bastards, burn!!" The fact that you can not only truly believe this, but actually revel in it is beyond disgusting.
