Just post one of the 31,000 contradictions and explain why it isn't really a contradiction. Pleeease.

Thank you.
Since you've asked so 'nicely', I will be happy to oblige only, please, not now.

Send me an email as a reminder and as soon as I'm back, well enough and with time I'll be more than happy to do as you ask.

Deal?

If you don't want to debate the inconsistencies, then how about presenting some facts about the Bible that others might be interested in.
I'm a bit disappointed, Haran. From an 'infidel' I could understand, but from a brother Christian I cannot.

I was quite clear in previous posts as to why addressing individual "errors/contradictions" would essentially be a waste of time. Did maybe you not understand what I was saying (I must admit, it's not a trivial concept).

So it's not that I don't want to debate the inconsistencies, it's that the more critical problem for people at a site like this one is different in nature.

I like to go to the core of a problem. Addressing individual misconceptions here wouldn't do that.

BTW, thanks again for wishing me well on my upcoming surgery. God willing, I should be back relatively soon.

Good luck with the surgery.
Your well-wishes on my upcoming surgery are much appreciated - thank you.

Perhaps while you are away from these boards you may care to reflect on why you didn't answer my points about cockatrices and sackbuts! After all, it would have been the christian thing to do wouldn't it? Here's the proof:

Thank you for wanting that all goes well in my upcoming surgery.

He promised you and other Christians the ability to heal any illness simply through laying on of hands. It seems to me that solution would be much safer, much more effective and would cost much less than a surgical procedure. Perhaps you don't have as much faith in Jesus as you seem to think we should have.

Thank you for wishing me well. Regardless of the outcome, it'll be good - He's in charge.

The rest of your post is further evidence still of how you never actually understood what God was all about. It is becoming very easy for me to see why you left His family. I'll reflect on that, if you please.

Thanks again.

God is a fiction, Jorge, like pink unicorns, Frodo, and George Bush's belief in democracy. We gave it up for the same reason we gave up Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. WMD was just funnin'. The reality is, there are no gods.

Consider the wonderful opportunity to recognize classic fallacies in the introductory posts!

One of the ironies of this all is that modern scholars who have had "years" of study--like the annonymous appealed to authorities in opening--have brought out the major contradictions and inconsistencies, particularly with respect to archaeology, such that many "minor" events, such as the Exodus and the Conquest are considered mythic.

Given his argument, how could he expect to disagree with them?
