Post Looking for info on Darwin's supposed deathbead recantation.

Hey everyone. I'm still quite new to the evolution/creation debate. On another website, this was posted:

"I heard that later in life Darwin became a christian and wished never thought of his theory "

I have heard this as well but i'm sure there are two sides to this story. Could anyone recommend some good info on whether or not this is accurate? Thanks.

Its not accurate. Its just another myth perpetuated by numbskull Darwin-haters.

The story is false. I actually recieved a pamphlet some years back from the Ontario branch of AiG that admitted as much, but I don't think I still have it.

Anyway, on the ever-valuable Talk Origins site:

Oh joy, looks like we're going to have to enjoy more rantings of Darth_Brooks tonight Cy as he points out the evils of Darwinian philosophy!

I wonder if he'll call atheists idiots again?

Funny..

I thought he was christian in the first place.

On another note, did anyone try asking him if his (alleged) wishing he'd never thought it up actually made any different to the validity/falsity of it?

Hey Bane! You know you want to jump in.

It's fun because it's a new thread about evolution. Check it out, coach.

Thanks for the info, everyone.

I posted in the thread but that's all the time I'm going to waste on it. Peez tried to debate with him but whenever he posted something refuting his arguments(out of context quotes..etc) he would just pull out the propaganda card and dismiss it as atheist lies.

He makes Kent Hovind seem charming.

It's too easy when you think you have God on your side, everyone else is of the devil, and the devil is evil and a liar. I guess it makes you not want to consider the other side, being of the devil and all.

That recantation story is the first item on Answers in Genesis's "do not use" list. If even they dismiss it, I think the rest of us can too.
