spin,
PB, sorry, I find your consistent use of this "contract theory" stuff as arbitrary manipulation for obvious ends. You want to eat meat so you stack your theory to suit it. I see nothing moral in that. I'm genuinely puzzled that you seem to think that I've personally stacked a widely accepted several-hundred-year-old moral theory in order to justify my own desire to eat meat. I can assure that, as Bill Snedden was kind enough to point out to you graciously (thanks, Bill), I am not misrepresenting or "stacking" contract theory. I don't expect you to agree with the theory, but, if you wish to participate ina civil discussion with me, I do expect you to refrain from accusing me of dishonesty when I discuss issues abotu which you are uninformed. Either learn what contractarianism is, and respond to my points in an informed manner, or concede that you do not know what you are talking about and stop accusing me of dishonesty. I suggest that, if you are truly interested in making a honest, rational presentation of your objection to meat eating you do as both Bill and I have asked and outline your own moral theory for us. And Dahmer says your contract theory is arbitrary. You speak for Dahmer as well as cows now? Fear the Reptoids! |

QoS, Kally,
Now, see, I have a bone to pick with you. You'd both better beef up your arguments. There isn't much meat to the body of them. But, if we can solve this problem, we'll be on the gravy trane for ever. Lard knows that this has turned into just a plain old roast. Phere the Reptiods Jon [ March 13, 2002: Message edited by: Jon Up North ]
|

(this hurts me more than it hurts you)
But maybe this just comes down to a chicken and the egg issue. (groan, but I *had* to) Jon |
