Give thanks you're not Jewish. It's quite a hard deal to undo THAT thing!

I remember reading an account of this a long time ago in a book by Mitchner - "The Source", I think.

Made me squirm for weeks (and I'm not even a guy!)

Apostasizing (sp?) could have some importance in Spain. Here the catholic sects receive funds (yes, from taxes) based on the number of catholics in the country, or what´s the same, the number of baptised people. Of couse, there´s a procedure to erase your name from the records, but the church doesn´t make it easy.

Most boys in the US do have "THAT thing" regardless of religion. Sad, but true.

Oh. I didn't know that.

I'm Jewish.

I've had "That Thing" done to me as an infant and as I see it, IMHO, more pleasing to the eye. I am sure it wasn't a religious act, must have been the trend of the times.

It is probably more pleasing to your eye because that is what you are accustomed to seeing. If you had grown up seeing a foreskin on your penis, you would probably prefer that look.

For anyone interested in the subject of circumcision:

Here is a link to a set of links about circumcision:

http://www.webmagician.com/cgi-bin/webring_list.pl

From there, you will find some interesting discussions of circumcision. It is extremely unpleasant (which should be obvious from the subject), but interesting.

You might find the following interesting:

The effect of male circumcision on the sexual enjoyment of the female partner (if you have been butchered yourself, you are probably not going to like this)

Don't know how "dignified" you want it to be, but I have a few ideas for nasty ones (here's hoping they're not so elaborate they require undue pain):

(1) Bomb heading for or hitting baptismal font

(2) Baptismal font shaped like toilet

(3) Y'know those mean-looking little boys on the back of cars who look like they're peeing on something or are about to? How about one of them peeing into a baptismal font?

(4) An angry-looking lamb aiming a bazooka at a baptismal font. Its T-shirt is emblazoned, "GODWHACKER" (thank you, Steely Dan!)

Less nasty:

(5) Baptismal font with sign: "SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK"

(6) A gym-hardened body proudly flexing its muscles, with a whole brain where its head would be. Next to it is a baptismal font with a chain and shackles; the handcuff is clearly broken.

I have to agree with the general sentiment that a constant reminder of the sacrament is self-defeating.

Move on.

Well, this might not be for you but my way of 'undoing' my baptism was to legally change my name.

Of course, I never liked my original name anyway, so I managed to kill two birds with one stone!

Don't worry, according to some theists baptism doesn't mean anything if you don't believe, so you're still going with the rest of us atheists
I am baptised every time I take a bath or shower every day.I does not mean anything, but staying clean.Thats all.
