In any case, it's pretty far from a GRD thread, so I'm going to move it Elsewhere. I'd wish you luck, but I don't want to see Jupiter win. I'll just wish you critical thinking instead. |

My first time getting a thread transferred to Elsewhere/RRP. I've made it this long (almost two years) without this happening, but now it's happened.
I think that the best approach an atheist could take to giving me advice is the approach fantasy writers take. Fantasy writers don't necessarily believe in polytheism, but they have no problem thinking of ways that one set of gods could defeat another. Of course, fantasy writers are making stuff up, and it would be better if my answers weren't made-up, especially by people who don't believe in gods... And "palpably fictional"? My gods are not "palpably fictional." And why don't you want to see Jupiter win? |

Although I would be interested to learn which "other gods" are competing for real estate on Jupiter. Don't gods need worshippers? And isn't it a bit historically inaccurate to refer to "Rome" synonymously with "the Greco-Roman pantheon", given that Catholicism has been the trend in Rome for a good few centuries now? I'm not (necessarily) being facetious, but I'd be interested to know how you arrived at these conclusions. |

This thread lost all credibity after " and the gods who engender atheism."
Engender this : How much thought doe it take to realize you screwed up by saying gods engendered atheism ? It's the status quo, and we see no reason to believe in a deity, true or false (most likely false, a true deity would zap me a sandwich, I'd eat it to have proof of "a divinity" and then get zapped into oblivion in turn...). Not much, but you can't quantify thought so bleh. BTW what sick god would ENGENDER atheism ? I have to say that this thread was funny, but the base you're applying on is stupid, and that irrespective to the 0,1,2,753 or infinite gods you may believe in. But you did say you were a polytheist, why would they want to coexist ? Couldn't they just kill each other off, leaving one god and limited progeny ? It would end up being monotheism or monarchic polytheism, that would override the almighty part though :P |

I've really gotten tired of debating the atheist gods. But let me say that atheism is not status quo; there have been few societies, and none before modern times, that were predominantly atheist.
Now, if it were a matter of some people just not acquiring a belief in gods, that would be a different matter, not requiring a god. But don't think of it on an individual level. We are seeing the first secular societies in these times. That does require gods who want to override theism. |

What the hell is an "atheist god"? never mind. I don't care unless it's going to zap me a nice atheist ch1x0r or some mad benjamins y0.
"We are seeing the first secular societies in these times. That does require gods who want to override theism." Says you and just about no one else. Hell, even if everyone thought that, it would still be retarded. I have to say that I've never seen anyone give up and admit defeat, straight out admit that they can't argue with reason, i.e. their beliefs are unreasonable, then keep on believing in unreasonable dieties, THEN have the nerve to ask for advice on how to umm take over florida or something for jupiter. Wow. Impressive. Up your meds. Pray to the gods of Zoloft. Don't say contradictory non-statements like "atheist gods" |
