Post Armageddon Prediction of the Day

In my workplace I write an "Armageddon Prediction of the Day" that goes out to nine or ten co-workers, and a few friends and relatives. Given that it is that time of the year when the US is thinking about taxes, part of today's post worth repeating.

Quote:
That's it folks, it's over. Armageddon is upon us. Dig out the flagellation gear, head for the hills, give away all your worldly belongings (donations gratefully received), and generally start foaming at the mouth. After last weeks hi-jinks of the Church of the Subgenius and their Porn Queens of the Apocalypse, it is time to get serious. This is that last year we've been hearing about for a couple of millennia. This time, someone will be looking around at the rest of us getting blown into kibbly bits with a smug grin on his face saying "I told you so." The year 2002 is the target of not one, but four Armageddon or Armageddon-related prophecies. Is this a coincidence? I think not. I mean what are the chances that one year would be the target of four separate predictions (Well pretty good, actually)? One of them has to be right. Of particular concern should be April 14th. I mean we're getting unusually specific here. We might as well not leave the office to go home on that date, because just as we're leaving the parking lot we'll probably be vaporized.

According to Mike Keller's endlessly boring 2002 Doomsgate website, on April 14th 2002, one half-second before midnight Israeli Jesus will return as the "last Adam in the Spring". He raves on "Will we be ready to meet him with the clouds of saints in the air? He is not coming to the Earth to set up a kingdom. The Earth will be destroyed. Look again at the Doomsday Clock.....see if you can find any alternate explaination for it's amazing accuracy!!!!!!!"

That's just a sampling of the site's whacky content. This particular kook manages to incorporate just about every Armageddon fad in the book, including Pyramids and UFOs. However if he's right, we won't have to worry about paying our taxes this year.

Oh, good. By then the CSN&Y concert will be over and I'll be totally wasted.
