the mark of the beast
I have been told by a couple of my xian friends that it has started somewhere in California. Someone is implanting something in people for whatever reason, of course, they can't give me any information other than "it has started". Anyone know of such a movement to "mark" the masses in the near future?

No. However it sounds like a great D&D quest to go on, you hear vague rumors from a distant town of an old and deadly danger reawakening.

I recall that about five years ago I met a person raving about the mark of the beast in the form of a subcutaneous microchip that will be replace both money and credit cards. it was supposed to come from the US, where millions -so I was told- already had it and everybody would have it by year 2000, except those few who declined the honour and they would be mightily persecuted for it.
Claims of mystical implants were quite popular with people who claimed to have been abducted by ufos. The implant legend might have jumped from conspiracy/ufolore to some branch of fundyism. |

Ovazor: I see you're from Finland. What if cell phones are the mark of the beast? Your country would be doomed.
(Sorry. I'm PWS [posting while sick] again. You may now return to your regular thread.) |

Information on the VeriChip - this is a Christian website with little factual evidence and lots of emotional appeals.
Different conspiracy theories can be found here - check out the "your social security number in the alphabetics Bible code" part. The website Mark-Of-The--Beast has a whole slew of information on various "cultural" topics, such as The Mark, partial-birth abortion, and prayer in schools. Again, a Christian website that appeals to emotions rather than facts. |
