What's nutty is that, according to some Christian views, a woman could be brutally raped and left for dead. Because of the horrible thing committed against her, she becomes angry and loses her faith in the Christian god. When she dies, she burns in hell for eternity, because she didn't recognize JC as her Savior. The rapist, feeling guilty for his life of crime, at his deathbed, finds Christianity and says, "I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior into my heart." Bingo... he goes to heaven.

Yeah..., that's a God I'd like to worship.

Instantaneous judgement of state is indeed a doctrine I have some doubts about. On the other hand... Imagine that you're a bad person. (This may be a bit of a stretch for some of you.) Which way do you think you're more likely to reform:

1. If you reform, you will be accepted and forgiven.
2. Too late for you, buddy.

I believe it is possible to reject a thing which you call God but which is not actually God, and that this doesn't count against you, especially if the thing you reject *should* be rejected. I guess we'll all find out eventually.

It isn't at all that easy to get to heaven according to the bible--narrow is the path. But most churches teach that it is that easy--so I see your point.
