Most of the criticism here of the Catholic Church is moved by genuine concern for those suffering --- and your attempting to paint it as "envy" is rather transparent, and IMHO, dishonest. How about you settle down and consider the criticisms made, and answer them forthrightly ? |

You're being completely irrelevant and evading the question or concerns. |

Woah! Amos heve we found your bilnd spot here or more importantly have you budy?
If you are still not seeing what is being shown you try this: Name one candidate you would approve of to take the Ctholic church under it's wing. Is that an absurd suggestion to you? Can you feel how that feels? Since it is not an offencive suggestion you should be able to come up with al least one. You ever heard of those backwoods Quebeckers who made a staement in their defence that they love their inferior races? |

Second of all, afaik the Church is pretty much limited to this planet, so the universal moniker is out. Lastly, I could be a global institution too if I had the blood-drenched proceeds of a half a millenium of mass-murder to spend without oversight. |

There was a good one going on before you showed up about the Catholic Church's enthusiastic participation in the genocide of native peoples in the Americas. Have you read the link I posted to Bartolome de las Casas' work? Have you read Celsus' links on Liberation Theology? Do you give a rat's ass about the cost in human lives of the Church's spread like syphillis throughout the Americas or was it all okay because the Church is inspired yada yada ultimate truth blabity blabity blah? In other words, do you have anything at all to say on the actual topic at hand, Gemma? |

hmmm? The point and argument is the various crimes committed by the Catholic Church; whether you want to condemn the Church as whole is a seperate issue, whether you think the Church should be praised is a seperate issue. The issue here is certain crimes --- such as the willful and deliberate destruction of people or writings. Oh, and Amos' evasion of that point. Frankly, Gemma, I'm disappointed you should be so unChristian as to simply try insulting me. |

How about the/most major corporation that want a Catholic at the helm (and a protestant second in command). In case you mean that "small is OK" I do not disagree. I am not against the minor mythologies at all. The problem is that they can't go back and if they could Ronin would not be crying about it because Indians would be building teepees instead of casinos. We have reservations here with millions upon millions spend on agricultural improvements and the Indians don't utilize it the way we would. With all respect, they do their best. Believe me, I can tell you lots of stories about rain dances and nearly everything else. But I won't and this is it. Not a blind spot at all, my friend, and I suggested the only way out to Ronin. Of course, he can't see that. He thinks an artists concept of his dream can become a reality. Let me say it this way: if he wants to soar like an eagle he must first become one and that is where the Catholic church can be a needed asset. Sure, at one time they did, but that time is gone and lost forever and the best they can do is cling to the remains and therefore 'incorporation' is the best solution. You should read "Tay John" (Howard O'Hagan), and see how the Stonys, Crees, Salish and Shuswap tribes of North Western Alberta had the Y tree as the cross, and the four identities that we call Adam, Eve, Mary and Christ. Their mythology is identical in cast and plot here now with father Red Rorty at the helm. |
