Jeh. Witness Book
A friend of mine recently gave me this book called, "Life- How did it get here? By Evolution or by Creation?" (long title)
So I've been reading through some of it, trying to keep an open mind (though it is published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society), and I've been sorely dissapointed. I'm about 5 pages in so far. Just some quotes I found interesting: "No large building could stand without a foundation. 'The evolutionary theory lacks a proper foundation.' say two scientists." "A well-known geologist said this about the Genesis account:..." "Some scientists are proposing ideas once popularized only in fiction." ... Hmm... I hear that well-known geologist is quite good. And those two scientists mentioned above really know what they're talking about. I swear, half of the quotes are from unnamed sources. It only sounded sort of biased when I started reading it, so I skipped to the conclusion. "Where did the theory of evolution really originate? -- We need to face the fact that the theory of evolution serves the purposes of Satan." Alright, I'm done. Just thought I would share some of these quotes. |

I've got that book! It really is awful. The worst bits, I thought, were at the end, where they start jabbering this utterly heinous JW philosophy. This is what always gets me:
Look at the happy smiling Witnesses strolling joyfully across the devastated land where millions have died! You gotta wonder at these sick bastards who find so much satisfaction in looking forward to the pain and suffering that everyone else is going to experience. You also gotta wonder where they get their shirts laundered in all that rubble. |

"There will be a restoration of harmony between humans and animals."
Then it shows a picture of a little girl hugging a family of tigers. In the background, a guy is feeding deer and sheep, with a big bear following behind him." Not to mention the loss of respect I have had for the religion, I am now truly and deeply scared. |

Then again, the authors are probably <a href="http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=certify" target="_blank">certified </a> by now. [ November 22, 2002: Message edited by: ashibaka ]</p> |

Actually, Adam and Eve are sitting nude behind pairs of large cats. Eve is quite the babe, I might add.
