Red face

You know, I've found that Dobson and Focus on the Family are a widespread thing. Focus on the Family is in our town newspaper. Do a lot of people really view him as a reliable source, or is it just conservative Christian influence? God knows there's a heck of a lot of conservative Christians in this town. Ugh.

for Naked Mage--

I see you use "The Execution State" for your location at the bottom of your posts. Here in Florida we have optional license plates you can get that say "Choose Life" with some kind of little figures or a face on them.

Are you in Texas? If so maybe you could get a movement going to get their DMV to issue plates with "Choose Death" on them. They could have a little noose or an electric chair on them. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the plates would go towards paying the elctric bills at the state prison. I mean one must be practical after all.

I mean if the pro-lifers in Florida can get their own plate, why can't the pro-deathers in Texas? Sounds fair to me. One can only hope that they would use better taste on the Texas plate for a backround color--the pro-life plate here is snot-yellow.

Just the mind wandering unattached to anything...........

Actually, I kind of like what the plates can say in Washington D.C.
"Taxation without Representation"
Happens to be true for the residents there.
I think it pisses them off some.

They have successfully been able to use "Liberal" to represent anyone who is not on their specific Christian dogma bandwagon, and to use "Conservative" to indicate only those who are.
It is the identical technique that was used in the Cold War. Communism, an economic system, was labeled "Atheistic Communism" rather than "Anti-Capitalistic Communism." Today, rather than "Liberals" and "Conservatives" to identify political philosophies of government, it has become "Atheistic Liberals" and "God Fearing Conservatives."

Little thought or insight seems to have been given to the fact that the majority of liberals in this country, must also, for obvious reasons, be Christians.

The instant I saw that this was a "Focus on the Family" article, I already knew what it would contend.</strong>
Thank you Buffman for dealing with the subject with your refreshing objectivity. I do consider that the Conservatives on the Christian side are indeed a minority. What makes them so powerful is their access to government positions.
Most christians I know do not support the death sentence and will let gay people be gay people. They do not demand an audience for their prayer time whether at work or school. There is no desire to force or impose their views on others. In that sense, they are "liberals". They are easily ostercized by the Conservative wing and reminded that they too will "burn in hell".
