Post Anarchism and communism

The Enlightenment had some faulty ideas about human nature. They thought that all the ills of society could be traced to society, and not to individual human nature. Rouseau, and the anarchists who came after him, were the best examples of this. They thought there was good reason to believe that human nature was basically good. The results were theories of the good society that could never work in real life. Anarchism has now been virtually abandoned, but it did its damage--for instance, who know what it would have been like if President McKinley had lived.

The dream of a society that could get along without government was not completely abandoned, however. Communism was a vaguely realistic version of this dream, and it did much more damage than anarchism. We know that its dream of a classless society didn't work. Long-term Marxist regimes have never even made progress toward the withering away of the state.

Although I am not a Christian, it is obvious that their idea of human nature was closer to being right than those of the anarchists and communists. On the Christians' behalf, I say to the anarchists and communists: They told you so.

(Edited because the "point" of the post was something silly that I hadn't thought through. What remains is the part that led up to the point.
