Re: Nice "tree"
Nice tree, but the links are suspect. I clicked on "asterids" (a major angiosperm group that my particular family of research is classified in) and it took me to a website using the old Cronquist classification, which is not only badly out of date, but has been conclusively demonstrated by numerous recent molecular studies to be quite wrong.

I like plants too.
The Caryophyllales link is also kinda out of date because on molecular evidence the carnivorous plants Nepenthes, Drosera, Dionaea, Aldrovanda, Drosophyllum, and Triphyophyllum are now all in it (IIRC). ...but, it was probably just an intern using google to find the links, cut him/her some slack. They also take a position on the root, putting it between bacteria and archaea/euks which is a common viewpoint but not without dissenters... This page is pretty cool though: http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/TreeofLife/hyperbolic.php |
