JusticeMachine, I get the impression you are playing a little game. Trying to set people up to say what you want so you can say "Aha!!" and then present your clever little conclusion.

Then people can comment on it. Or at least, answer this: How do you feel about homosexuality? |

My own personal views....hhmmm.
I have had friends who are homosexual, and they fear being defined. If ask how they became homosexual, they say they just are. My ideas are on many fronts, in hope to come to a logical conclusion. If we are just products of our enviroment and genetics and upbring then we can isolate how someone progressed into homosexuality. If we are beings with free will, then homosexuality is a decision. I fairly sure it is a combination of both of those premises. If we can come to an agreement that there is a cause for it, then we can descide what bennifits or detremits there are inherent to it. I ask earlier if it is a natural state of being, or rather is there a natural state of being, a norm if you will, that exists. Specifically in being human. Nature (or GOD depending on what you believe) has set our bodies and minds up, in general for procreation. The sexual organs work very well together towards that end. The way the female body is stronger in areas to bear children, the way females can bear the pain of labor in giving birth, where as the male body would have great difficulty in this. I also contend that (again speaking in generalities) that we are mentally set up for breading as well. We tend to gravitate towards family grouping for shared resources and protection. Our psychological make up pushes us toward that end. Even homosexuals use the fraise "in the family" or "family orientated" to describe being gay. My personal beliefs will remain just that, as it is difficult to have productive debate if your/my feeling taint my thinking. |

I would tend to disagree because it seems that even though we have some measure of free will, it doesn't mean we're able to change many things about ourselves especially when it comes to sexuality. Your friends answer to the question about how they became homosexual is a perfect example. They developed this way and it has seemed natural to them. They probably never think about it in terms of making a decision to be homosexual. It's how they developed and to them it's as natural as how a heterosexual develops. Quote:

I think the 'norm' for nature is diversity.
