Useful new book
- From the "At Issue" series: "Creationism vs Evolution"
Creationism Vs. Evolution ed. Bruce Leone I found this book in the local library the other day; it is an anthology of selected writings (extracts from books and other writings), from Dawkins, Gish and others presenting both sides of the argument. I don't know if the editors made their own choice of material or asked the authors - it appears to be the former - but I think the range of material presented is well balanced and representative of both sides. There's even a tragically flawed argument on 2LoT from someone who claims to be a physicist!? The material is presented without commentary or bias, but sadly for the creationists the evolution side of the argument comes out a clear winner (imho). I think this would be a very useful read for those new to the debate; ideal perhaps for a high school student or school board member! Robert Pennock has a new book out. Having read and loved his Tower of Babel, looks like I might have to shell out $45 for this one.
Intelligent Design Creationism and Its Critics Apparently Dembski is complaining about Pennock's inclusion of two of his essays.
