This is one way to piss off a fundamentalist. Tell him his religon started with psychadelics!!! It is all over in historical art. The use of entheogens for spiritual enlightenment. The greeks did acid, the hindhus and buhdists stemed frok the Amanita, Judeo Christian roots in Amantia and Psilocybin. You see religon and the religious experience can be traced down to brain chemicals in every situation. The link below is interesting in the sheer volume of the depiction of the mushroom and its use in religon. Does that mean that all religons are bunk? Not necesarly. But it does mean that you can trace it back to reductionistic, organic, scientific means. The experience can be explained in other words. lol, I remember reading articles on how jesus used cannabis, it was hilarious, I used a quote from it in my aim profile for the longest time saying "what we perceive as being 'high' or 'stoned' the ancients called 'possessed by the spirit of the lord'"

Sometimes I get nervous when I go out into the desert and "party" all night, that I am going to find religion. I have to remind myself, it's a party, not a vision quest. Fortunately once the shit kicks in I get so completely stupid I don't think I would know religion if it bit me on the ass. I don't think I would have made a very good Indian. I've never understood people who get all metaphysical and existential and philosophical while high. I have to use all my brain power to study that stuff sober, and when I'm messed up I'm just retarded!
