Another myth, that seems to have been kicked out of the good company of Hebrew religion at some point, says that Adam had a wife before Eve. She is the one who is created together with Adam, while Eve is created later, from his rib. Because Adam wanted to dominate even if they were created as equals, she fled and joined the demons.

Lilith became immortal. Mythically speaking, immortality might be something she gained from the demons, but do they really share it out just like that? Lilith's followers today (goddess-followers, ranging from wiccans to feminist satanists (naaaaasty bunch, twice as evil!)) say that it is because she left the Garden before mankind Fell - and before Death became a part of the world.

Well, the tree of life wasn't forbidden in the Garden. It was one of the trees and Adam and Eve could eat from. The reason for this verse is:

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

The consequence of sin is death, so if God didn't banish Adam and Eve from the Garden, they would have eaten from the tree of life and escaped the consequences of sin. Had Adam and Eve not disobeyed God, they would have eaten from the tree of life and lived forever, since it wasn't a forbidden tree.

Yup. That's how I interpret it also.

Interesting. So if they had eaten of the tree of Life first, before disobeying God, what might have happened then? Obviously, if their sin was to be punished, God would have had to revoke either eternal life or knowledge of good and evil, to redress the situation. Which do you suppose he would have taken back?
