Actually, giraffes started out as tree-dwelling creatures that would graze on grass. They needed the long necks to reach the grass from where they perched up in the branches. It was the gravity acting on their heads that made their necks long.

It's only an irony of evolution that now they stand on the ground and eat the leaves off of the trees in which they used to dwell.

Go figure.

I'm confused on one thing. As far as I know the Bible sez tha God created all the animals back in Genesis. So why are these idiots saying that Jesus had a part in it all?

Is there something I've missed about fundy theology?

They'r every hung up on the notion that Jesus is God even when Jesus isn't on Earth during his 33-year lifetime. So they say that when god appeared in human form in the OT, that was Jesus, and whenever God did things pertaining to Earth (like stretching out giraffes' necks), that was Jesus. They also say that the entire OT is about Jesus (there was this interminable thread on another board, in response to someone saying that Christianity was only a 2000-year-old religion, which went through most of the OT to show that the whole lot of it was actually about Jesus. This strikes me as perilously close to being a unitarian heresy, but apparently it's what they believe. And it probably makes it easier for kids to visualise.

It's his real name. No kidding.
