Post Script:

Amos, if Heaven was juxtaposed with Earth at the date you claim, why did the Sumerians not know about it? Did God create expendable people for the sake of "His" chosen few?

Because heaven and earth are mythical concepts and are mythology specific. The Sumerians may have called the sky heaven but did not associate the physical universe with the singular state of mind needed to enjoy life in heaven while on earth. Do you see the difference?

Because the bible is an a posterior account of reality. The mythmakers gave an account of their prior experience with nature and this is what inspired means to us.

I know darn well what you mean because they are all over. We/I also live in "Gods country" with 30 some churches in a small town.

Here's one to add:

-Before you were a Christian, did you believe that there were valid reasons for not believing? If so, what were those reasons and how have those reasons been shown to be invalid, in your opinion?

(I have yet to encounter a believer who actually understood the strong case against Christianity prior to converting. The virus of faith seems to spread on contact with uncritical, underinformed minds.)

I'm sure you're right. In almost every case I have come accross "former Atheist becomes Christian" types were originally brought up within the church, lapsed and then returned. The lapsing semms usually to be of the form of not bothering with religion or in rebelling against Mummy and Daddy rather than the kind of reasoned rejection you here from deconverted Christians.

I have yet to come across someone brought up with no religious baggage who subsequently converts or someone who had the kind of reasoned atheism on display in thes pages who subsequently converted.

If there are I'd be fascinated to here their reasons.

Don't need to know and I did not claim to know. The difference it is that they did not place heaven opposite to earth in their myth or our Genesis would not be original.
