Re-incarnation in Christianity?
I was brought into existance by God, God says that I have to do this and that or I will suffer in all eternity. I am born a sinner, on the wrong team so to say, it seems sick that God will bring me into existance(from nothing) tempt me all my life, and then cast me into Hell. Why does God bring me into existance in the first place? Why does God need me in Heaven? What is teh purpose of creating beings out of nothing(with freewill), expect them to do your bidding, and then if not, Hell forever and ever?
Unless there is re-incarnation this won't make any sense what so ever. Oh but the bible actually alludes to re-incarnation. [4. The response of Israel to the messianic events of the time of Jesus DID MAKE A HUGE difference in how 'soon' the Kingdom would be restored to Israel...the coming and REJECTION of Elijah (in the person of John the Baptist--Mat 17:10-- The disciples asked him, "Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?" 11 Jesus replied, "To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands." ) formed the pattern that the Jewish oligarchy would use in rejecting their king...see Luke 19:41ff: They did not recognize him? How on earth should they re-coqnize him if he hadn't be born before? This has to be re-incarnation no? DD - Love Spliff |

Isn't the alleged resurrection of Christ...semi-reincarnation.
He died. He was brought to life again......... I only say semi because it was supposed to be the same body-mind that was revived. |

I think that that is how you are reincarnated. |

Not really, the problem is in the Old Testament Elijah didn’t die, he was taken physically up into Heaven in a fiery chariot. At Passover Jews leave an empty chair at the table for him, in case he stops by. |

Curiously, many Jews believe in reincarnation, observing that the Torah never says you make it to a relationship with God on the first try.
I have no opinion on the issue. |

Forgive my ignorance.
The Jesus-concept is too complex for my lycanthropic self to grasp. We are born - we die. Isn't the rest just speculation? Just live a good life and don't fret over what you cannot know....yet. |

Did not the earliest Christians believe in reincarnation? It was only after the various councils laid down the laws that it was banned?

I remember a Christian on another board saying this is why he believed in reincarnation --- the Church's suppressing of non-cannonical doctrines show that the decisions of church were not from God. |
