“Lost Discoveries, The Ancient Roots of Modern Science – from the Babylonians to the Maya”

Dick Teresi

Simon & Schuster, 2002

From the book jacket “innovative history of science, explores the unheralded scientific breakthroughs from peoples of the ancient world – Babylonians, Egyptians, Indians, Africans, New World and Ocenaic tribes, among others – and the non-European medieval work. They left and enormous heritage in the fields of mathematics, astronomy, cosmology, physics, geology, chemistry, and technology.”

An interesting and very informative read for the layperson.

Howdy Hyzer

Sounds good. If I get out from under the mountain of reading I have now I'd like to read it. One of the hard facts of life is that as one grows older the number of books one would like to read increases as the time in which to read them decreases. And there is nothing that can be done about that.
