Christians don't always succeed in being moral. What's all this they keep repeating about how all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. At least when they have done something they feel ashamed of they can explain it with their bible.

Some Christians associate the concept "religion" with rituals, and like to insist that Christians have a "relationship" with Jesus that goes deeper than that.

Precisely. This is why Pascal's Wager is so pointless: you cannot choose to believe in something. Not consciously, anyway.
