Post The Koran: more peaceful than the BIble.

Now that I have everyone's attention, I'd like to say something. " !"

Many people have told me that Islam is a violent religion and that the Bible is much more loving. So, I'd like for all the people who believe this to locate scriptures from the Koran, post them here, and I'll try to match or beat it with a scripture from the Bible. GO!

-Dean

PS Of course, if you don't like either religion, try and post similar scriptures from each book.

My Father can beat up your Father!

What difference does it make? They are both thugs.

Here is Landover Baptist's contribution to the question;

<a href="http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news1001/viciousgodquiz.html" target="_blank">landoverbaptist.org</a>

Excerpt;

2. Whose god orders the most violent plight for nonbelievers while on Earth?

A. Neither. Neither god believes in violence.
B. Neither. While both gods will punish nonbelievers on Judgment Day, neither prescribes harming them while on Earth.
C. The Christian god because he ordered his followers to kill all those of a different religion, including family members, friends and even their cattle, whereas the Moslem god simply required the enslaving of nonbelievers.
D. Both gods issued equally violent orders.

Actions speak louder than words. It is how the books are interpreted and acted on by their followers what counts more.

These "infallible words of god" do seem to be rather flexible though.

Here's a perspective...

<a href="http://clickit.go2net.com/search?cid=239171&site=srch&area=srch.noncomm.goog le&shape=textlink&cp=info.xcite&rawto=http://www.biblicalperspectives.com/endtimeissues/eti_85.pdf" target="_blank">Violence in the Koran and the Bible</a>

(It's a pdf file, commentary starts on page 9, comparison of buybull to koran starts on page 17)

Quote:
Some appeal to passages found in the book of Joshua regarding the extermination of various tribes living in Canaan, to argue that the Bible is not different from the Koran in sanctioning a “holy war” to promote the true worship of God. If this allegation were true, then the teachings of the Bible on the use of violence would be similar to those of the Koran.

The problem with this allegation is the failure to recognize that the extermination of the various tribes living in Canaan was a divine punishment for their wickedness, and not a method to convert them to the religion of Israel. Dead people cannot change their religion.. Like Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because their wickedness had reached the limits of God’s mercy, so the tribes living in Canaan were exterminated on account of their sinfulness.

So it's true then? The Bible is more violent and brutal than than the Koran?

Wow, that was easy.

Try this instead.
  • Pick up the Koran.
  • Turn to a random page.
  • Read.
  • Stop when you get to something either violent or morally objectionable.
  • Count how many pages you read.

I would bet that you didn't read more than 2 pages. maybe in a few places... 3.

The Bible doesn't compare to that at all. At least you have Jesus saying "Love your fellow man" in some form or another. The argument that Christianity as a religion of love at least can be made from the bible. IMO, there is no way to do it with the Koran. It's a complete invention.
