Well, yes--that is part of the definition. This leads to the inevitable question: "Why can't the universe just be here?" Which is then retorted with "Because God is the first cause, and God doesn't need to have anyone start him, but the Univierse does". "Why does the universe need something/someone to start it and god doesn't?" "He's god, and I say so."
