MORPHO, hello? Your daughters & their Mother....
1. I can't remember where we were discussing this matter, Morpho; You don't have to answer the following qq.... 1. Your girls aren't attending a RC parochial school are they? 2. The chances are great that the catechists [ at the out-of-school-time dogma classes wh/ your wife wants the girls to attend] are neither too-bright nor too well-informed. This wd include the parish priest also; he is either old-indoctrinated, or young & not-too-bright. Otherwise if a cleric at all, he'd be an order priest. Hence the chances are that altho your daughters are young & not-yet-well-informed == 'ignorant', the girls are probably more intelligent than those who are instructing them in the Faith. 3.If your wife is such a devout dedicated Catholic, HOW COME you & she have only TWO children, now ten & 8 y.o? 4.Teach your girls some straightforrard subversive qq to ask their catechists & the parish priest. They could get lucky, & get thrown out of the class. 5.Do your daughters know the basic facts of human reproduction? :"where babies come from"?6. there is an excellent black-&white picture book, about a decade old now about GALILEO, you could give/show to them. Also, show your daughterws the OCT 30, 1992 front page of the NYT, article about Vatican says Galileo was CORRECT. & e3xplain that to them... Lotsa luck, guy. Please keep me posted about this matter. Abe

Hello abe, take "Vatican says Galileo was correct" as a slap in the face to all Americans because as a literary concept the "flat earth" is needed to juxtapose with a "round heaven." This is based on the Gen.1 when the mythology was first created in which heaven was round and earth was flat. Based on this mythical concept earth is only about 6000 years old and so is heaven because both are needed to make the other known. This, BTW, has nothing to do with the age of the planet we call earth.
A similar thing happened when the Church admitted that not just Jews but also pagans helped with the crucifixion of Jesus. This was done in effort to appease whining Jews and brown-nosing protestants who don't have a clue what the mythology is all about and forget that it was Judiac law, and Judaic law only, that convicted Jesus wherefore Pilate and Herod (here become allies) could find no fault with Jesus-the-man. This "no-fault-clause" proves that civil law had nothing to do with it and that only the Jewish ego identity was crucified. The question now becomes: how can pagans who were oblivious to Judaic law have had anything to do with it? In fact, I'll take this one step further and tell you that Americans today still do not know the basic facts of human reproduction because we still think that sex makes babies but now first begin to learn that most of us fuck all the time and increasingly fewer of us can conceive babies. Yes we have the fertility clinics to prove that while we do not understand why it is that the sperm-count in males is declining nor do we understand why fewer females can conceive nor do we understand why more girls are born in relation to boys these days. It still is a flat world indeed. Amos [ January 02, 2002: Message edited by: Amos ]</p> |

Oh, Amos old dear: I wasn't talking to YEW; I know that' would be a waste of time; I was trying to speak to MORPHO, continuing a conversation we'd been having wh/ indeed isn't really any of youah bidnizz... The reason why i seldom bother to 1]read or 2] reply to um what-Iconsider-to-be foolish posts is primarily that my on-line { @ library , free time } is strictly limited to THREE hours in 7 days; and I have a lot of ground to cover in that 3 hours, and arguing w/ you, Amos, wd be a waste of that precious time. I avoid INCREASING my on-line time [as by buying/setting-up a home stuff} because I have a bunch of other important-to-me things to do; & I don"t want to become ADDICTED to the "Net; as it seems many persons have done....

Well abe, that is one way of dodging my reply to your post. I'll buy even if nobody else will.
