Red face CBN Coverage of Prayer in Schools: The 30 Second Kneeldown

One step closer to elimination of 1st Amendment rights? Baby steps always come before bigger steps..
<a href="http://www.cbn.com/CBNNews/News/020919a.asp" target="_blank">http://www.cbn.com/CBNNews/News/020919a.asp</a>
..."Sipling says the goal is to have 1,051,200 youth praying at their lockers for 30 seconds each day. He says that equals a year's worth of daily prayer on school campuses. Schools from Alaska to Florida are doing the Kneel Down, and many students are writing their testimonies on the group's website. Click here to check out the 30-Second Kneel Down website: <a href="http://www.30kd.org/what.htm" target="_blank">http://www.30kd.org/what.htm</a>
But [Jesus] made Himself of no reputation" Philippians 2:7

What is the 30 Second Kneel Down?

The time is now for prayer to be back in schools! Students all over America are taking those prayers from the flagpole to their hallways. Never in the history of America have our middle and high school campuses needed students praying more than now! Knowing that the battle students face is intensifying as we move into the next millennium, prayer is a mighty weapon in our warfare. Not only does prayer battle the forces of darkness, it increases the passion in students' hearts for their "lost" peers on campus.

It is time to be students of no reputation! Just as a pro football player kneels unashamedly to thank God for his ability after scoring a touchdown, in front of 60,000 fans, the opposing team and his own team, so are students kneeling to humble themselves each day on their campuses. They are committing to serve God no matter what.

Join thousands of students across the nation who have committed to carry their passion for Christ to the hallways of their schools. It is time to take the message of Christ's love beyond the walls of campus clubs to claim the harvest.

Working together for the harvest,
Tom Sipling

It is another one of those "I broke the rules; I prayed in school today" kind of thinks.

It's hard to break rules that don't exist.

They will never catch up to the daily total of "kneel down" prayers of the Muslims. Aren't Muslims worshipping the identical monotheistic entity. That's roughly 6 billion prayers a day. That entity must have to do a great deal of Scan-discing and defragmenting in order to keep everything running as smoothly as it does on earth....and throughout the rest of the universe.

Yup! That is certainly a great victory for Christianity. Now lets go out and kill some more Muslims...but don't forget to say "Praise Jesus" as you do...and vote a straight Conservative ticket when you are old enough to vote.

(I say this after reading through that Christian Forum and wondering if any of them know the current laws.)

I'm imagining the student kneeling down to pray, and all of the sudden, the special effects from "Eternal Darkness" start popping up around him as he launches a magical attack against the forces of darkness.

Prayer == Spell casting.

The comparison is more apt then they realize. The football player bows down to God in front of 60 000 fans, not because he is humble and wants to thank his creator for his talents, but because he is conceited and wants to show off. The gospel admonition about praying not like the pharasees in the street applies doubly to football players.

The children who make a big show of the 30 second kneeldown (and, from this, the whole point is to make a big show) aren't being humble. They're just trying to show off how "humble" they are.

That being said, I have no complaint about them doing it. Let them imagine themselves to be great warriors charging into forbidden territory for Jesus, when they face no opposition at all.

Yes, I have always wondered how keen these fuckers would be on school/public prayer if they were tripping over muslims five times a day.

Segment 2: God, Touch Them!
Prayer: God, touch the teachers, administration and students on my campus today. One touch from you, Father, can change someone's destiny. Touch them through me.
I'm getting tingly all over, but I don't know why.

I believe that this is a great plan, and that atheists should go on record as loudly as can be heard defending the student's right to do this.

And whenever we face the argument that "you are trying to remove all signs of God from public life," all one needs to do is point to this and say, "You lie. Here is an example of religious display that we hold to be perfectly legitimate and that we think it would be wrong to remove from the school. The First Amendment protects a student in the free exercise of his religion, and as long as the student is not creating a fire hazard by blocking the halls and makes it to class on time, he should -- indeed, must -- be protected in this right."

OK! Then let'em do it. But please know that if this situation was reversed, where non-xians practiced some Satanic ritual of kneeling in the halls, the xian authorities would immediately have the local fire chief declare it a hazard. Then xian fire chiefs and schools across the country would conspire to copy that hazard declaration. And then Trent Lott would offer legislation to make it a felony to kneel in any building that was supported by federal tax money. And then...
