Post One more nail in the crucifix.....

The Catholic church has just fucked itself even harder.

Bill O`reilly just said he`s discovered theres a homosexual Cardinal. A PRACTICING homosexual for 50 years! Bill wouldn`t give the Cardinal`s name, but said the story will break in the next week or two.

Not only that but theres a Cardinal in CA who`s just been hit with the RICO act for protecting a pedophile.

On top of all that the Vatican has just approved an article ordering the American bishops to NOT cooperate with law enforcement on these pervert cases.

This might be the last nail in the crucifix for the Catholic church. <img src="graemlins/boohoo.gif" border="0" alt="[Boo Hoo]" />

Maybe. I can just see protestants though, "See we always said the catholics are evil. Now the lord is passing judgement on them" or some such nonsense.

I wouldn't take O'Reilly or his guests as the final authority on anything. He had two ex-military men on his show about two months ago who said that the U.S. would be invading Iraq within 30 days. Well, here it is two months later and no invasion. O'Reilly likes to think that he's a serious, objective reporter but he's not at all. He's sensational and hardly objective. When he discusses a topic on his show, he has someone from each side of the argument on his show. He ends up allowing the person who agrees with him to talk and spends the rest of the time yelling at the person he doesn't agree with.

Can you provide a source for this information? I had heard that the Vatican ordered the American bishops to cooperate fully with law enforcement.

He`s a biased, loudmouth asshole and I`m well aware of it,but he is a practicing Catholic and I doubt he`d try to hurt the church with false accusations. I guess we`ll have to wait and see if he`s correct about this.

I found the story on the II newswire lastnight after hearing it from O'reilly and does not say the bishops were ordered to not cooperate with anyone, but the article was approved by the Vatican. I meant to amend my post lastnight after reading this, but I was falling asleep. It`s not as cut and dry as O`reilly made it sound, but it`s still a significant sign of the Vaticans opinion on the matter.

"An influential canon lawyer at the Vatican has written an article to be published today in a Vatican-approved Jesuit journal saying that Roman Catholic bishops should not turn over allegations or records of sexual abuse by priests to the civil authorities."
