Some fundies have a gripe against women wearing pants. They cite a place in Leviticus that forbids cross-dressing, but that part of the Bible neglects to describe which clothing is appropriate for each sex.

Furthermore, Exodus 20:26 suggests that pants was not a common item of clothing for either sex; it states that one must not climb up upon an altar because one would expose oneself to it if one did.

Well, let them run their trailer park how they want to run it. If these kinds of rules make them comfortable thinking that they have discovered an overlooked taboo that the other xians missed, and Sky-Santa is sure to be proud, then good for them.

I doubt that they feel that they have discovered some great secret; there are abundant other opportunities for that, like speculating about how the world is going to end.

However, fundies seem fond of rigid and stereotypical sex roles, so they may feel that women who wear pants are trying to dress like men; until the last few decades, it was rare for women to wear pants.

Nowadays, however, many women wear pants essentially full-time; the main reason I've ever come across is that it's more convenient.

Fundies seem to see women wearing pants as duplicators of the archetypal temptress Eve tempting Adam to eat the apple (sex). Falwell, Robertson, Khomeini, Ben Laden — I can’t see any difference.

The good thing about pagan religions is that they let you eat of the fruit of life so that you don’t desire it abnormally. My sexual desire was never so high as when I was a theist, with all those prohibitions. I desired all the time. Now that I’m not under the Law of God, it’s back under control. Ie there was a much greater chance I’d rape a woman when I was a theist than now.

Deuteronomy 22:5 - "A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the Lord your God detests anyone who does this."

I wouldn't follow such a stupid rule even if such a being did exist. How on earth am I supposed to ski, kickbox, rockclimb, or even do simple yard work in a dress? Bah, humbug, sez me.
