John Edwards on CNN
Did anyone besides me see psychic fraud John Edwards being interviewed by Paula Zahn this morning? While John didn't get the rim job that Larry King lavished on Van Praagh a couple weeks ago John was given plenty to smile about. At the very least he got his balls licked.
What made this "interview" amount to nothing more than a puff piece and PR coup for Edwards was Paula Zahn's obvious bias in favor of Edwards and complete lack of skepticism. Questions about cold reading and the editing of his show and were treated as perfunctory chores that they both could endure to create the appearance impartiality. She referred to a TIME magazine that was critical of Edwards as " infamous" and asked Edwards what he thought of the fauds who infiltrated the psychic trade. By asking that Zahn was demonstrating that she thought John was indeed the real thing. So much for unbiased journalism. |

I didn't see this appearance, but I did see one a couple months ago on a morning "news" show. I can't believe that anyone in the media is even taking this guy seriously. It worries me.

It must be part of the Fox-to-CNN migration of buffoons; like Zahn, Edwards is being groomed to be the next newspuppet on Crappy kNowNothings. Think of the great interviews!

I want to clear up a few things. I am not in the habit of watching Paula Zahn. The only reason I watched that one time was because Edwards was on and I wanted to see how he would be treated.

Read ahead for a couple of weeks; it's a John Edwards joke, and a funny one. |

Paula Zahn=eye candy for the mindless masses=me
It seems to me that 'the news' is nothing more than an idol observance of any incident that causes an emotional response. As they say in the broadcast industry: If it bleeds, it leads. Critical news that observes the facts of the situation and provides background information is hard to come by. I find it hard to believe that the masses are supposed to make a reasonable assesment of the story with the lack of material presented. But, then again, maybe that is the plan. Journalism is out there, but hard to find. You won't find it on the ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CNN, or MSNBC. |
