Really, Starboy - if you have a bone to pick with Helen, please try to keep it contained to private messages.</strong>
Bree, I don't have a bone to pick with HelenM. I was not aware that she was off limits to critical discussion. For what it is worth, my comments were directed mostly to Christians who wish to be thought of as freethinkers and not to HelenM in particular. Wouldn't it be great if wishing something made it so.

Actually if you have tothink you are already not a freethinker.

The nice thing about being a freethinker is that your thoughts are inspired.

Like being a freethinker because you call yourself an atheist?

Is there something wrong with that? After all if you have something worth thinking about then I might enjoy thinking about it.

Inspired by who or what? If other then yourself, how is that freely thinking? As to your comment preceding this, I haven't got a clue as to what you mean. Can you clarify it?

Is having a critical discussion and being critical towards someone in particular the same thing?

It is only if someone takes it personally. It is a test to see if someone is indeed a freethinker.

Doubt and questioning are actually healthy for religion as well as science, as Geo-Theo's post illustrates.

Thinking about the existence of God is some of the finist thinking that any of us will do, regardless of the conclusions we come to.

Also, I try to re-evaluate my political, religious and scientific views as time goes on because new evidence comes up, old evidence is discredited, and existing evidence is often understood in a new light.
