Hmmm looks like I have finally got people to reply.

By the way, has anybody looked at Dembski's definitions of probability and likelihood in the Design Inference? I have heard it they are really bad.

Hey aahz,

A quick search of the forum may be useful. . . I know Dembski's stuff has been discussed here many times!

aahz: I think <a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=001414" target="_blank">this thread</a> had a good discussion of specified complxity.

Hey thanks for the link.

I seem to have, at least temporarily, killed that thread again.

You know, I have to admit I am simply staggered that Dembski's ideas are still given this much attention. My only guess is that it is due to the fact that people without a fairly sophisticated education are likely to be taken in by his (pompous) arguments that rely on (completely unnecessary) mathematical mumbo-jumbo.

Does anyone know where I could find a copy of that article? The link seems to be dead

Sorry, looks that is the end of it. The authors were supposed to take down the article when it was published. But when I was removing parts of the url I found that back-up copy. Looks like they finally got around to zapping it.

The only other thing is to go to the journal that is linked in this thread. I am not sure of the exact puplication date. Sometime in late 2001, IIRC.
