Post Why are Christians targets

I have lurked in this forum a long time, sometimes posting, but mainly reading what others post. I am an agnostic from a Christian background, but have noticed that the Christian religion is often brutally lambasted, while other religions are often "discussed" intellectually, even by hardcore atheists. Why is this? I've tried to come up with a list off the top of my head. I'm sure the list can be much longer.

1) Christians are often hypocritical. This may be true, but what about the Muslim? Do they actually obey every command in the Koran? If they do not destroy the infidel, does that make them a hypocrite?

2) Christians are arrogant in that they believe their religion is only one way to heaven. Don't most major religions have their own plan for salvation? Would believing all religions lead to the same god mean cosmic chaos (i.e. how many gods to appease, one or millions? Could a rational creationist actually believe that all creation stories are true?)?

3) The Bible is literally translated by "fundies." Ok, so what other holy book isn't?

4) Christianianity has spread by force and murder. From history, instances of forced conversions or death were propogated by catholics (e.g. inquisition), but the catholic belief system is not biblically based. It's like saying that Osama Bin Laden represents ALL Muslims. There is a majority christian element that adheres to the teaching of Jesus rather than church tradition and would rather pray for an enemy than slay them.

So, what is it? Just about all the other major religions believe in some supernatural intervention. Why aren't they slammed as being ignorant as well as the chrisitians?

Just wondering....

The following is brought to you by Jesus ~ compassionate saviour extraordinaire:

Luke ~

19:27
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

For what it is worth ~ I disbelieve them all and would not hesitate to expose their nonsensical claims where I encounter them as an equal opportunity 'slammer'.

Why are Christians targets?

It's called counter-bombardment.

This topic will probably be better served in GRD.
