Smile Religion in the U.S

Here in Australia the stats say that church attendance has been falling steadally for decades, and my personal experience is that I hardly ever get preached to anymore ,exept by the Mormans ha ha,
So my question is how is it going in America?
Do you guys feel like you're winning or just banging your heads against a brick wall?

Here in the bible belt we are just keeping our heads above water. The xians so love skeptics here that they will gladly blacklist our businesses when they find out we are not xian. I hear it is better on the east and west coasts, but here the fundie preachers tell their followers that atheists are the spawn of the devil. One man who had a Darwin evolving fish on his car had his new car keyed, scratched up with a car key. But we do survive, and the xians who run everything here think themselves persecuted! Ain't it wonderful?

That's true for the smaller towns here in alabama as well. The larger towns it's not quite as bad...here in huntsville, you only get dirty looks occasionally.

I live in VA and I don't see a whole lot of fundies, my cousin's church was rather fundyish, it was an assembly of god, but for the most part my friends are either atheist or don't care, and the christians I know are rather liberal (then again I'm in high school so how can they have sex and talk shit if they weren't liberal?)

Horrible. With each passing second, the xians seem to be gaining strength, and with each passing second, another chip falls from the Wall of Separation between church and State.

Sincerely,

Goliath

Don't know about you, but the freaking wall has been pushed over a long time here in the south. Tacit permission is given for ANY fundy maneuvering of the rules...

Things aren't that bad up here in New England, I meet very few fundies here.

Goodness...all of this sounds so, well so ominous.

I guess I'm just not used to religious organisations interfering so directly in politics.

This reminded me of something funny my dad said the other day. He wondered how freaked out someone with a jesus fish would be if someone put little legs on it. Just imagine altering all those little jeebus fish...

It's not that bad here in Washington State. Although we have the lowest church attendance in the country so that may help. I'm Pagan so I'm thankful to have such a huge pagan community.
